(BTW, I find it kind of trashy to take something that was given away with the best of intentions and make a profit on it. I understand it is a tough time financially, but it is tough for most, and yet a lot of us can still find the decency to do something kind for other people. Brigitte, you make us germans look bad! It looks like you only buy things to make money out of it and its ridiculous that you can not understand how mad people get about that, if you want to make some extra money put some of your own stuff together and go and sell it on some locals flea markets, like some of us do all the time. i look through my stuff and when i see things i dont need anymore i wait till the weather is good and go to a flea market off or on base but if i would get something from RYS FOR FREEEEEEEEEEE i would never sell it again on there to make money out of it you are a shame for the community Karma will get back on you

i can translate it for you guys Anette, i do the same sometimes, so far i remember all the people who i bought stuff from, and if my family dont need the things i give it to people who need it. i paid for it but i give it away for free. i never got bit@@@ out like that before in my life,till today i had no idea whats going on here. a friend called me and told me to look at the ramsteinunderground to figure it out on my own i never got anything for free, only the tree You know it i can not forget i did not do anything to anyone and something about a lot of same things get sold on RYS ( the last sentence does not even make sense in german but thats how it would be in english) Hope i could help 

AGAIN!! She does NOT make Germans look bad!! Why are you saying that?? Stop trying to make this a national thing! PLEASE!! This has nothing to do with nationality,stop trying to defend "us Germans". She did something you dont like and thats all! End of story. Or do you think that all the ppl here hold a grudge agains Germans now because of Brigitte?? 

To be quite honest I haven't met very many germans who were nice or decent. Im not trying to be rude but, it seems all the germans on this site seem to have attitudes. But that is just my expeirence with them. 

I know Brigitte personaly and she buys things from me for the past 18months ..(last thing to buy was an 110$ rug i posted before this passed weekend , previouse she got a baby crib for 30$ and the list can go on .. )and some items im giving her for free . I dont care if she wants to resell them after i gave them away ..obviously i dont need them anymore and if she will resell doesnt bother me at all .She is a very clean ,decent person , a great wife and mom & grandmom and she's around 60 years old .English language is not her second language is the 3-rd one , german is the 2-nd one and she cant write/spell correctly in english ,thats why you didnt understand much from her message there . If you intend to give away free items only for the military familly than pleasse mention that in the posting . Somewhere on the 1-st page it was a german lady that writed a lot about what Brigitte receive as legal payment for german familys ..im not sure what her problem is ..thats the law in Europe lady and this thing should not bother you at all and is not you're business !!! 

I love the German people. I've had nothing but good experiences with dealing with them. There are scam artists in every country, in every demographic, and in every socio-economic group. There are also good, kind, decent people in every country and every group. If you post something for free and she asks if she can have it then she resells it, it's morally shady but really not your business. However, if she gives some sob story or writes something that makes you choose her over someone else who also asked for the item then she turns around and sells it that makes her little better than a con artist. Yes, you still willingly gave her the item but if you did so based on lies, misleading statements, and half truths it's her con game that caused you to relinquish the item to her over someone else. That's what con artists do. I am not saying Brigitte is a con artist. I don't know how she operates. If she simply asks for the item or offers to buy it for the price listed with no other information given then the original owner was not conned and her reselling it is no one's business. However, if she is conning people out of items in order to make money for herself, that is sleazy. 

@Liea..what a thing to say! WOW! I bet the experiences you had with whoever was few and far between. One or two bad things does not make a whole nation bad or indecent. I am just shaking my head at ignorance like that! 

well quite frankly I dont care if you choose to shake your head at that.. Look at the way you talk on here as well. I think you have to much time on your hands & can be very rude with the way you word things. Like I said before & I will say it again this is my experiences not yours, or anyone elses.. I think americans are always willing to help out others, not all but, most.. Look at our country its one of the largest melting pots in the world & we make it so that other countries people feel welcome. In my year & half experience of dealing with the economy & listening to gossip on this site Im not to impressed. Now angel2009 let me say this one more time for you This IS my opinion.. Im sorry that you dont like it, but, I haven't met to many friendly or nice germans & I dont think thats my fault.. Im a very nice person & love experiencing different cultures & countries.. But this is not one that I would choose to come back too. 

I can honestly say that this is disturbing to me. The fact that people are picking out Germans in wrong and shows a lot of ignorance. I have had bad experiences with people from many different locations but to say that one country is much more guilty of something is just a very large stereotype. Everyone has different experiences but some should be kept to yourself. Also America might be the largest mixing pot in the world BUT America also has the largest CRIME rate. Point blank there are bad people everywhere and it has nothing to do with where they are born it has everything to do with how they are raised and the kind of person they chose to become! Everyone needs to take a deep breath and keep somethings to themselves before they come back to bite you in the a**. As it is said on the underground " That is just my opinion though". 

I should also say Brigitte it is morally wrong what you are doing. There are many people not just military that could use the things that you are taking advantage of. You need to have some respect for yourself and for the people who are nice enough to give up the money they could have gotten to help other people out. I don't think yelling at you is the right way to go about it but I do think you should realize what you are doing and what you are taking away from others who really are in need!

I've read this thread over the past days and some comments make me want to really step in and want to send people on a search for their rationality - some seem to have lost it, assuming they ever had some... Just a few things: People who generalize us Germans as such bad, indecent and rude folk - where exactly have you had all those bad experiences? Liea, you mentioned RU, did you take in consideration that it is an Internet platform (unfortunately one where people mostly complain and argue) and that this can hardly count as a representable sample?! As to your comments towards Angel2009 - I, personally, am usually totally impressed with her comments! She shows a lot of common sense and has a great way of wording without getting as personally insulting as many others. One can tell that she has an open ear for probmens and opinions and that she tries to stay open-minded to everyone, remaining as diplomatic as possible on this site. I find her comment that she is "shaking her head about such ignorance" a very non-personal and non-insulting way of criticism. Angel and Bob, I'm always glad to see your names in a thread, you both have a very educated and decent style of commenting which - along with a few other clear-thinking people on here - make this site usually enjoyable and brings it back to what it is about: A discussion. As for all those 'I know it all because I work there/done that/been there/know someone' people: Please don't assume that any of this enables you to know about everyone's personal life and please, please don't post your assumptions on here. Especially when you are German! Everyone's personal circumstances are different and no, not everyone gets the same benefits, chances, etc or has had the same life story as others. And even if you know something about people's personal life for sure (such as income, government support, personal problems, disputes, etc) - it's not on that you to post it to a public community board!! I wonder sometimes if you realize what damage you cause by putting semi-correct information out there -- people will read it, take it for granted and spread it around as the truth! I've had to clarify so many of those "but a German said it, so it must be true" - false information and thinking patterns that I "often shake my head" about (my fellow German) people not realizing what rat's tail one ignorant comment can carry! Think, just simply think before you post, please?!? 

Beautifully stated Yvonne. Just as I would never judge an entire culture based on the actions of one or the "personal experiences" of another, I hope your opinion of Americans isn't tainted by the negativity of some. If we all make just a little bit of an effort I think we can all learn a lot from each other. I, for one, am ever grateful for the experience of living here and the wonderful people I have met, both German and American. 

I really think it's time to close up this discussion- like I said on another thread, everyone has had their say and I think it's time to move on...

I just have to say this is the most entertaining topic I've seen in a while. I love the emotion that some folks display and the passion as well. I love the debate over right and wrong. I haven't laughed or sighed over a posts like this in a long time. Please folks keep em' comin'. This is better than a TV show. I have two types of junk in my basement...(by junk I simply mean things we dont need anymore...if it was garbage i'd just recycle it)....1 stuff I don't need and has no value to me and 2 stuff I dont need but does have some sentimental value (like baby clothes and such)...I guess the first type, I really dont mind who takes it and what they do with it...the second I suppose honestly, though its not my call, Id like to see going to a good home that needs it...I would think saying on your advert: for E4 and below, military Id card holders only would ensure it goes to the military needy, wouldn't it.... I know I'm going to get shot down here, but we really dont know her position, maybe she is a elderly lady just trying to make ends meet...there's a lot of that going on in the recession. While I dont agree with what she is doing, maybe she didnt know the unspoken rules on here and treated it as a capitalist market place like ebay??? I guess people are upset as we are away from home and trying to help each other in a very small community....perhaps now she knows how people feel, she will work differently? 

Hi Everyone!! I don't use this often but I thought this was an interesting topic..since everyone is talking about giving stuff away for free..i thought i'de ask here first. Does anyone need a fisher price rocking horse? I am giving it away for free..I don't need it anymore and it's just taking up space. I would much rather give it to someone on here than RYS. 

Last time I checked, being desperate for money shouldn't come before morals. To me though, this lady isn't doing anything different than the AMERICANS selling "not-so-gently" used items at jacked up prices. I'm not sure why we're focusing on just this one person when there's soooooo many people doing shady things on RYS. They really do need a feedback option on there though! 

Just so everyone out there knows she changed her name its now devil --6. Honestly face to face she really was a sweet lady I was just upset over the way she failed to post problems with one of her items. Then when I confronted her with it she was very hateful. I didn't buy the item I recognized it from a picture of a friends living room.
