Does anyone have a Dell laptop? I had one once and my current laptop keeps giving me trouble and I am thinking of getting another Dell. Do any of you have any feedback on having a Dell? Thanks!

I have a Dell... I bought a Dell over a year ago and within 6 months the battery charger went out, it was under warranty so they replaced the part, but they won't send replacment parts to APO, yet they will ship the laptop here... Well, about a month after that they hard drive went out, they replaced that too and when we finally got it the replacement hard drive didn't even work, so we had to have them send another one. So in order to get the replacement parts through warranty we had to ship to my mom and pay for all the back and forth to/from her. Then a few months ago I cracked my screen, our insurance covered it and bought us a new Dell, and it's starting all over. A couple of weeks ago the battery charger went out and they are replacing it. We got a universal charger, but it doesn't charge it only kept it on and now it won't even turn on and it's only a few months old. I personally won't ever buy a Dell again.

Oh and getting them to replace the parts they ship to the states for free, but require the defective part be returned within a week, and since we have to have our parents ship it here it's about a month long process and they aren't very nice about it.

Take a look at the Sony Vaio. I am on my second one, love it to bits and my first one is still ticking. I loaded unix on it and it works just as fast. My new one is kind of ridiculous thanks to an awesome husband, but I don't see why it wouldn't last for years like my old one. I've never had to replace any parts, they're a bit bigger/heavier but I dragged my old one all over iraq, kuwait, and the US and it just kept running. They are definitely worth the money, in my opinion.

I've had a Dell for over a year and never had a problem with it. I'd reccommend them to anyone. I still love my HP but I seem to use my dell a lot more.

I have had a dell xps for 3 years now. I have never had a problem with it.... one of the batteries died but i had a replacement for it. it still works great, better than most of my friends desktops.

Cool, thanks for all the input. I was stuck between a Sony and a Dell...it's just so hard cause you have people that have had horrible times with their's and then people who love the one they have. Just like I hate my Hp, but other people love their Hp. It almost seems like a hit or miss sometimes.

I had a Dell and it was a real good lap top but their customer service SUCKS. I recommend a Mac laptop. My sister has one and she loves it. You can do so much more.

I HATED my Dell. It's been years, but mine only lasted for 2 months when I got it, before the power supply broke. I sent it away to be fixed, they kept it for almost a month and a half, then sent it back and it only lasted another 2 weeks before it broke again.. I didn't want to wait forever for Dell to fix it again, so I took it to a computer repair shop and had it fixed again, then it broke again about a month later. At this point, the power supply had been replaced so many times that it wreaked havoc on my motherboard, which now needed replaced. I figured out that it would be cheaper to just buy a new notebook, rather than replace the motherboard, so I did and never looked back. This wasn't a cheap notebook either. Originally, I paid $1,300 for it. After researching online, I found out that a TON of people were having the same problem with the same exact part as me, so hopefully they've fixed that by now. Like I said, it's been a few years. On another note, I bought a Vaio a couple of computers later and it was the best I've ever owned. You couldn't hurt it if you tried. I have a Toshiba now and it isn't bad, but I'd go with a Sony Vaio over other laptops any day.
